There are spoilers in this review. Duh.

I think I was so blissful about the reveal of who else was alive this episode that I forgot to recap it earlier. Whoops. I’m going to do this very fast because I should have done it last week when I watched it and was just like BONNIE IS ALIVE MY BONNIE IS ALIVE ALL IS WELL IN THE WORLD. I cannot tell you the delight I got when she showed up, because I was so certain it was her. BONNIE IS ALIVE EVERYONE. 🙂 So anyway. Previously on HTGAWM, Annalise is in some serious shit with her work and taking pro bono cases, but they’re looking for reasons to mess with her. Someone has been putting up pictures of her with MURDERER everywhere, so that’s fun. Frank is still missing and killed the hit man that Annalise sent after him. They tried to trap him with Laurel, who is hung up on Wes which still weirds me out because they have no chemistry. Also in the future, someone is dead, Annalise’s house is burning down, and we see Oliver is alive and agrees to wipe her phone. Annalise lost her shit at whoever died, but we won’t know for awhile.

Bonnie is alive, so all is well. She finds Annalise, who has been officially arrested. Oliver wipes the phone as promised and Bonnie drops the phone back at the crime scene so it seems like she just dropped it. The cops yell that there is another body and this one is alive, so we’re going to have to wait to see what that means. THE PLOT THICKENS. I’m getting that out of the way. Laurel’s storyline takes her away from the others for this one. She’s gone to her father who is a super shady rich dude who spies on everyone’s phones. She’s mentioned before he’s a bad person, and while he seems okay here, you can definitely feel that he’s got a lot of darkness in him. She needs his help to find Frank and has to sign some papers, not sure what they’re about quite yet, she refuses at first but then agrees. She gets Frank’s whereabouts but tells Annalise she wasn’t able to.

The main case is for this creepy murderer guy, and Michaela is first chair for it. I like that he’s actually guilty, it makes me happy. He’s so creepy, man. He’s a mouth breather. He accidentally let a hooker die by not getting her help when she passed out. Instead they have pictures of him joking around with the unconscious body and such. What a disgusting person. His former lawyer figured out he had in fact murdered a girl before, and hidden it. Bonnie brings up her past and that this mom is still looking for her dead child, and it could have been her if someone didn’t save her from her father. She manages to get a plea deal for him by pointing out he didn’t get a fair trial and that he knows the whereabouts about another body. It’s all very shady, but Annalise wins. When the client says he wants to get off entirely, Annalise loses her temper and hits him, saying he murdered two girls and he’s going to take the damn deal. Yikes. This is going to come back to haunt her, but it is totally deserved, what a scum ball.

Meanwhile all the kids decide to run off to Atlantic City with their client’s money. While there more angst happens with Connor and Oliver, and this break up still feels manufactured, but I do appreciate that there’s still awkwardness. Break ups are usually not very clean, and for two people who have to stay in each other’s space, it seems realistic they’re struggling this much. Michaela found out her closeted ex is getting married again and she pawns her engagement ring to get the money they lost back. She and Asher are still together. Wes still has Meggy the girlfriend, who seems really nice? So she must be evil, right? I don’t know, it’s shady for sure. I don’t trust people who are nice on this show. This was a good solid episode. All the storylines were interesting. I was just so excited about Bonnie I forgot to write this.
