There are spoilers in this review. Duh.

Supergirl is back, yaaaaay! The last episode was the Flash crossover, which was of course cute as a freaking button. But now we’re back into the real action and it’s intense. There are so many things about this episode I loved. So. Many. Previously on Supergirl, she finally got the courage to kiss Jimmy, but he turned into a zombie. Like all the other humans in National City. This is clearly a part of Non’s plan, who is now partnered with the Brainiac Indigo. Alex and J’onn were forced to flee after becoming fugitives, and his cover is now blown. They also found out that Alex’s father is alive. Lucy was given command of the DEO and knows who Kara is. The DEO had a bunch of aliens trapped inside of it. Astra was killed by Alex, and while dying seemed to have regret for her actions that were in motion.

So first up, Non tries to let loose the aliens in the DEO outside of the White Martian. Interesting he would focus on that one! Supergirl is there to stop it, just barely, but she’s going to have a hard time taking on the entire city at this point. The Myriad situation is that he’s managed to take over the minds of every human in the city to do his bidding. Kara has no idea how to stop it. All the humans at Cat Co are putting their minds together to solve world problems, uhhhh however Non thinks that should be. Kara’s horrified that none of her friends are paying attention, and then Cat comes in. She isn’t brainwashed! The reason why comes when Maxwell Lord shows up and reveals he created a little brain device to protect him from Myriad, and he sent her a pair too in earrings. We know they used to have a thing. Maxwell believes he knows a way to stop it, but doing so would kill 10% of the population as well as exile Supergirl from the town permanently. She decides that might be the only option, but Cat gives her a heart to heart. She’s like don’t listen to that guy, yo, he’s a jerk. Also necessary sacrifices aren’t the Supergirl way. She tells her to have faith and hope and I wanted to hug her so much. Luckily Kara hugged her too and my heart bled. I love their relationship so much. This gives Kara an idea of how to fix things, and her emotional plea to Maxwell actually does manage to soften him up to try things her way. Nice.

The problem is that Alex and J’onn come back into the fray. They’re still trying to figure out where her father is, but immediately have to go back to National City. J’onn wants to go alone, since he can’t control Alex’s mind the whole time, but she’s insistent. Against his better judgment (SERIOUSLY WHY DID YOU AGREE TO THIS) he takes her, and then he gets attacked by Indigo. He appears to “die” (no way, he’s not dead lol) or at least pass out, and Alex is now under their control. Non decides a really good revenge on the sisters is to have Alex in his power, with the Kryptonite sword she used to kill Astra, and them to battle to the death. We’ll see what the result of that is next week. It was Indigo’s idea too, and she’s kind of the real villain this season. OH and also I forgot to mention Non broke Kara’s spirit earlier by forcing three people from the office to jump off the roof. She had to let one of them die. We had no idea who that third person was really, so it was hard to have an emotional reaction to it. Obviously she was going to save Jimmy and Winn. I wish it was a character we’d known a little more so it hit harder.

So we’ll get to see the end result of Kara’s plan in the next episode and the result of the sisters fighting. I assume Alex will somehow get out of it due to the power of ~looooove~ which I don’t mind because I love sisters. So. J’onn in my opinion is definitely not dead, what a weak way for him to go, and they have so much left to do with his character. But my question is what he can even do after this season. He can’t go back to being the head of the DEO and his cover is blown. Hmmmm! So I thought there was 22 episodes this season but there’s only 20, so next week actually is the end! Ahhh. It better be renewed. I will riot if it isn’t. Or they can put it on the CW and we can have more crossovers, that would be okay. This is an excellent show with great heart and actors, and it deserves to be saved.
