There are spoilers in this review. Duh.

Don’t mind me as I zip through Quantico reviews because I’m behind and I can’t just skip one it feels too weird.  Shhhhh. Let’s do this fast. Now that Quantico has added new characters, it has some doors opening up, but I’m not so sure they’re utilizing it quite yet as much as they could. Although it does give us the chance to have more suspects on the ultimate terrorist group. I think it’d be a cop out if it was someone from this new group. I want it to be an original character. I’m still thinking Ryan or Liam would be the absolute best options. Ryan would be so surprising, right? I’d love it. Previously on Quantico, a second bomb went off because Simon let go of a trigger, thinking it was safe. Unfortunately Caleb’s father and a lot of other people died in it. The group are confident that Elias worked alone, except for Alex, who as usual is the Cassandra of this show when she’s always right and everyone else is wrong. But things got complicated last week when she was approached by the real terrorists again, using phone calls, and she saw Natalie with a bomb strapped too her. Uh oh.

Natalie and Alex are working together now, to save Natalie’s life thanks to the terrorists controlling her, and also they want to figure out the secret. Natalie was always a rival of sorts to Alex, both at Quantico and with Ryan’s heart. We still haven’t seen her date Ryan in the flashbacks yet, but since we know it happens, it’s all just inevitable. The two of them are given the job to get files from the Joint Terrorism Task Force where Alex now works. Uhhhh she should so not have that job. They should never have put her back in the FBI honestly, even if I know she’s right, they don’t, and she’s kind of unhinged. For good reasons, but only the audience knows that. Anyway, Hannah, Ryan’s ex-wife, is in charge of it and she openly despises Alex. That’s super professional, Hannah. Anyway the two ladies work together to get it done.

Unfortunately Natalie thinks they can pull one over on the terrorists and add a worm to the file when they send it. This ends with her getting blown up, not by the thing on her, but by the computer she’s typing in on. Whoops. Great job by Priyanka acting, because her horror as she knows her friend is now in bits seems very genuine and painful. I was sad as yet another women on TV bit the dust, RIP Natalie. It made sense in this context, but seriously, add her to the very long list and it starts getting depressing. Alex is more unhinged than usual after this, as you well would be too! She runs to Ryan panicked and crying, and he’s freaked out by her behavior. But the terrorists clearly are watching and she’s like ohhhh shit and flees before he can ask her anything. In the trailer it’s showed that she goes to Simon next, which I am not surprised by. Those two are always where things begin. I really hope he doesn’t end up being the bad guy, because I really do like their platonic deep connection.

In the flashbacks, they are all taught how to get informants and they test it out on people at a bar. The trainees fail if they reveal themselves, or if they agree to do illegal things in exchange for the informants getting what they want. So that means they all basically fail, to no surprise. My favorite of the new group right now is Will. He’s brilliant and awkward, but really endearing. In the flashback we see Natalie take a leave to try and get custody of her daughter, or at least partial custody. Poor Natalie. Also Shelby’s “sister” was supposedly kidnapped, but they find out that it’s a lie too. Man, she just keeps getting lied to constantly. That’s about it. I do like the new characters and I’m interested to see more of them as time goes on. It still blows my mind that no one believes Alex in the future. SHE WAS RIGHT THE LAST TIME YOU DOUBTED HER. WITH NO PROOF. FACEPALM. This was definitely a game changer in that they killed someone and made it clear this won’t be the last one. I do like that Quantico doesn’t pull punches. Considering they killed a whole bunch of people in the mid-season finale, in a surprise explosion, made me go ‘maybe this show could be alright.’ It still is now. I’m liking this back end a lot.
