There are spoilers in this review. Duh.

I really wish they had trigger warnings on these episodes sometimes, but I get that it’s a show that’s very serious and there’s going to be triggers everywhere. I just felt like I needed to take a few showers after the end of this episode. Also while I find Frank a really dark character, I crack up every time he just outwits everyone. He’s so far ahead of the rest of the game it’s getting funny. He’s an expert criminal, obviously. But how did he get that way? How did he hook up with Annalise? They are getting into some of Bonnie’s background and her relationship with Annalise which I appreciate. So he’s the next wildcard they need to explain. Anyway! Previously on How To Get Away With Murder, the team is defending two siblings who are accused of murdering their parents. Wes thinks that Annalise killed Rebecca, and he’s working with Nate and her foster brother Levi to prove it. Asher is turning on Annalise and going to testify against her, but Bonnie stopped him and confessed to Sam’s murder instead. She’s hoping his love for her will stop him. Also just a few weeks from now, Annalise is dying, the group is fleeing from the scene of the crime, and the DA is dead on the floor. No idea what else happened at this point.

The main storyline is actually about Asher this episode, which feels somewhat necessary, although it’s even more about Bonnie. I’ve been waiting for Bonnie stuff for awhile, and what happened didn’t surprise me, just made me sad. Asher struggles to figure out what he wants to do, buying himself some time from testifying, and he talks to Annalise too. Confronts her more like about not having Bonnie go to the police, and she makes some terrifyingly true points about how unfair the system could’ve been on a woman even if she killed to stop a rapist (a lie in this case, but still). Asher still isn’t sure and even says he’s going to turn her in because he thinks it’ll help her (????). Annalise then shows him a video of Bonnie from when she was a child being raped/abused by her father. Creepy creepy creepy. It does explain Bonnie’s intensity about Annalise, if she feels like Annalise saved her from that situation or gave her a purpose. And her weirdness with men. I love Bonnie and this was heartbreaking to watch, and clearly it’s going to shut Asher up … for now. But in the flashforward we see that Asher and Bonnie are driving away from the murder too, so they’re all a part of murder club. Bonnie washes blood off her (did she do it????) and Asher goes straight to the police. Guess there’s a limit to how much he’ll put up with. Granted, he’s the one probably doing the right thing here, but obviously we’re used to feeling more on the side of the others … even if they’re all criminals.

The Wes stuff mostly bores me. I don’t get why Annalise favors him so much considering he’s the least reliable honestly. I’m not sure why he’s so certain that Annalise killed Rebecca, since right now she’s still one of the few people who hasn’t directly taken part in a murder so far as we know. Anyway he and Levi track down to a box he thinks is hiding Rebecca’s body. Levi gets picked up for having a bunch of drugs, and Michaela finds out he’s a big old creep, poor thing. Obviously this was all planted by Frank who knows his business. Did he work with the mob? I feel like he’d be good in the mob. Frank planted the drugs and the giant bag that’s actually full of cash. So now everyone thinks Levi’s just some scummy drug dealer, and it’s not like he’s necessarily innocent, but still. They deal with the siblings a little, because evidence comes out from a file Oliver steals for Connor. It has their aunt say some extremely racist things after the murder and she says she didn’t remember anything, although she swore to something else later. The judge calls Annalise out for getting it illegally, which people never seem to do, so ha ha. Also I would like to call out that Annalise loses her shit at the Murder Club for turning on Bonnie. Instead she’s covering for them, and when they find out, they do apologize for it. You be momma lion on them, Annalise. ❤

Also Frank and Laurel have dirty sex in the basement where Rebecca’s body was, so that’s creepy. Connor admits to Oliver that he loves him. We see him more emotionally dive in this episode; he’s really coming to a breaking point soon. What happens to Annalise???? Why did Connor only try to help her? I want the answers! There are a lot of murders going on right now and a lot of plots, which might bother me if it was more convoluted. They’re pretty good at keeping them straight, or at least I’ve had no trouble with it so far. While there’s no one on the show I think is necessarily a good person, they truly are fascinating to watch. And somehow I really want all of them to make it out okay. Don’t judge me. Also bring Eve back. And I want Frank’s story. I love this show and watch it live every week, or as soon as possible.
