There is a movie taking over the box office right now with no real sign of stopping, and it is titled The Hunger Games. The buzz for this flick was loud and excited since it is adapted from an extremely popular young adult fiction series. So far the critical acclaim is high, audiences are gushing about it, and even the fans seem satisfied (which is hard to do!). It made $155 million in its first weekend and almost beat The Dark Knight for the highest opening weekends of all time. It tops the chart as the highest midnight selling for a non-sequel ever. So what is this movie about and why do people love it so much? Read on and see. There will be spoilers abound. Jachelle is a diehard fan of the book series and Dee is mildly interested at best, so we come from different positions here. Maybe we need to go to the Hunger Games to fight it out! Spoilers galore people.

We have a lot in common when it comes to our tastes, as people can tell from all of our joint posts. Probably what we end up quoting the most together is Mean Girls. There are just too many lines from that movie and they stick in your head forever, and somehow it applies to completely non-applicable situations. Dee’s definitely yelled at someone randomly I want my pink shirt back! No context, just for fun. And a lot of the time, if you’re talking to someone in their 20s, they’re going to laugh because Mean Girls was a cultural phenomenon in its time. It came out eight years ago (can you believe it) and it’s still talked about regularly. As the world keeps making new mean girls and new ways for teenagers to destroy each other, this movie continues to stand out as a comedy about bad things people – especially teenage girls – do to one another. So here’s our look at Mean Girls. And it is so fetch.
